Pothos
pothos
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light; can tolerate low light or fluorescent lighting, though variegated types may turn greener. Direct sun will scorch leaves.
Watering: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. Leaves will droop slightly when they need water. Overwatering causes yellow leaves and root rot.
Soil & Potting: Use a well-draining, airy potting mix, such as one containing perlite and bark. Ensure the pot has drainage holes.
Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in 65°F-85°F (18°C-30°C). Tolerates average household humidity but prefers higher humidity (40-60%).
Fertilizer: Lightly feed with a balanced, liquid houseplant fertilizer every 1–3 months during spring and summer.
Maintenance: Trim long vines to encourage bushiness. Prune anytime, but avoid removing more than 1/3 of the plant at once.
Toxicity: Pothos is toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
